
Maryland Releases 2006 Baseball Schedule

Head Coach Terry Rupp has released the 2006 Maryland baseball schedule, which includes home series against perennial powers Miami and Georgia Tech. The Terps are slated to play five teams which were ranked in Collegiate Baseball's final Top 25 poll last season.
Maryland will open up the year Feb. 10 in Greenville, N.C. with a three-game series against East Carolina. Their home opener is set for Mar. 1 against the George Washington Colonials.
The Terps plays 10 games before beginning Atlantic Coast Conference action Mar. 3, when they head to Duke for a three-game set with the Blue Devils. Other conference road opponents this season include Florida State (Mar. 10-12), North Carolina (Mar. 17-19), Clemson (Apr. 7-9), Wake Forest (Apr. 21-23) and Boston College (May 5-7).
Maryland will play host to Miami Mar. 24-26 and Georgia Tech Mar. 31-Apr. 2 at the recently-renovated Shipley Field. Last year, Maryland defeated both the Hurricanes and Yellow Jackets on the road, when the schools were ranked No. 4 and No. 1 in the nation, respectively. Other home ACC series include North Carolina State (Apr. 14-16) and Virginia (Apr. 28-30).
The 2006 ACC Tournament will once again be held in Jacksonville Fla. May 23-28. Only the top eight teams earn berths.
