Last Season vs. Virginia Tech
Stephen King scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime session to lead No. 21 Maryland to a 2-1 victory over Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
Maryland had to wait until the 86th minute to get on the board after A.J. Godbolt worked deep on the right side of the box and sent a ball through the Tech defense to the top of the box. King drew the attention of the Tech defense, but he let the ball continue to the top of the box where Ian Rodway buried the 18-yard shot into the upper-left corner of the net.
The Hokies hassled Maryland and got the equalizer in the 90th minute when after a corner kick, a scramble ensued in front of the net and Bailey Allman headed the ball in through the traffic with just 48 seconds left in the game.
In overtime, Jason Garey made a soft touch on the ball to Godbolt who was pulled down in the box by a Tech defender, allowing King to convert the first penalty kick of his career for the game-winner.
