  • Six Terps Honored By The ACC

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland men's soccer team will head to Cary, N.C., as the top seed in the ACC Tournament. It's the second time in three seasons the Terps have been the No. 1 seed. The Terps will play No. 8 Wake Forest on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 2:30 p.m.

LiveStats (www.theacc.com) will be available for all tournament games and Maryland games will be broadcast on wmucsports.com. The championship game will be televised on the ACC Regional Sports Network (Fox Sports Net, Comcast Sports Net, Sunshine Network).

The Terrapins (14-3-1, 7-1-0 ACC) enter the tournament with a 10-match unbeaten streak. The last Terp loss was a conference loss to NC State on Sept. 25.

Maryland is 8-1-1 this season against ranked opponents. The Terps are unbeaten against ranked foes in their last nine outings, the only blemish being a tie against then-No. 5 Indiana. Six ACC teams are ranked in the most recent NSCAA poll.

After not winning a regular season ACC title for 32 years, the Terps have won two of the last three (2003 and 2005). Maryland's seven ACC wins in 2005 are a conference record.

The last time the Terps were the No. 1 seed at the ACC Tournament was 2003.

Maryland has advanced to the finals in each of the past three seasons. The Terps were victorious in 2002, lost in penalty kicks in 2003 and fell 2-1 last season. All of those games were against Virginia. In fact, Maryland has made the finals five times in the program's history and has played the Cavaliers in each of those games.

Maryland defeated Wake Forest earlier this season by a 3-0 score at Ludwig Field.
