Maryland Head Coach Brenda Frese
On the game
"I'm really proud of the team. I thought we played some of our best basketball over these last couple days. It's tremendous to be able to see the kind of depth and unselfishness that we have on this team. I thought we got better these past two days defensively and taking care of the ball, so that's exciting to see."
On the balance between defense and offense
"If you want to be a championship team and do the things that we want to do, then you have to be able to play on both ends of the floor well. We're a lot of fun to watch on offense. When we play really sound defense it really cranks up our offense."
On the difficult upcoming schedule
"Our team is ready to play in the ACC. We were a little banged up in December, but our players were able to get rested and get a lot of confidence going into ACC play. They separated themselves from their competition. The ACC will be brutal, though. We know that, but we're ready to get started."
Maryland Guard Shay Doron
On increased scoring in the Terrapin Classic
"As a point guard, I want to get my teammates involved first, but I can still score. I had a lot of opportunities the past two days and, fortunately, the ball has been going in for me. Marissa [Coleman] and Ashleigh [Newman] have been playing very well and that has allowed me opportunities. But my job as the point guard is to pass first, and shooting is still secondary for me."
On offensive balance
"Our post players are as good as they get. Our offense is so balanced. When teams want to focus on [the guards], they sag off the interior players and we kick the ball in. [The posts] take advantage of their opportunities and then they have to sag off [the guards] outside again. Teams really have to pick and choose with us."
On the team's 12-1 start
"We're right on schedule. I always say that we expected to be 13-0, though, but we're confident and we know that we can play with the best teams in the country. We've already proven that."
Maryland Forward Laura Harper
On looking forward to the ACC
"I didn't get to play in the ACC last year, so I'm really looking forward to getting in there and playing. I'm just happy to get out there and help this team."
On last year's surgery occurring a year and a day ago
"It's been a long year coming back, but it's been fun to watch this team develop the way that they have. Now I'm even more excited to be a part of this team and its development. I have all my confidence now, though. The coaches and the doctors wouldn't let me play unless they knew I was 100%."
Maryland Guard Marissa Coleman
On blending into the box score despite her double double
"I think that it's a great thing. We had five players in double figures tonight. Anyone can put up big numbers on any given day, and that's what's so exciting about this team."
