Dec. 7, 2005

Box Score

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) - Marissa Coleman had 22 points and nine rebounds to lead No. 9 Maryland to an 88-55 victory over Monmouth on Wednesday night.

Crystal Langhorne added 20 points for the Terrapins (7-1), while Shay Doron had 17 points and 10 assists despite missing nearly 9 minutes in the second half because of foul trouble.

The teams traded baskets early before Monmouth (1-5) jumped to a 9-4 lead and kept the defensive pressure on Maryland. However, the Hawks soon had trouble hitting their shots while Langhorne - who scored eight of the Terrapins first 10 points and finished 9-of-12 from the field - found her touch.

Maryland took control of the game when Monmouth star Niamh Dwyer sprained her ankle while driving in the lane with just under 12 minutes left in the half.

Dwyer returned about 5 minutes later, but Maryland continued its surge and held a 38-27 halftime lead. The Terrapins pulled away in the second half shooting 63 percent from the field and outscoring the Hawks 50-28.

Brianne Edwards led Monmouth with 12 points, while Dwyer and LaKia Barber each had nine.
