COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Ohio State Postgame Quotes vs. Holy Cross
Head Coach Jim Foster
On defense:
I think we did a good job of being patient, everyone's going to guard you in a certain way, you just have to be patient. The focal point is usually Jess (Davenport), and people have to make a decision how they're going to guard her. And then we read and react.
On the three-point shot: To quote Caity (Matter), "We weren't taking shots we normally take." So we stopped. Then in the second half we started to take the kind of three's that we like to take. As a result, we were 0-6 in the first half, and 5-8 in the second half.
On Brandie Hoskins: Brandie is a very different player, she's an old-school player. Her game is penetration. Her game is passing when penetrating and she has added a pull up jumper. Brandie could have played in any generation.
Senior Guard Caity Matter
On defense:
I think they were trying to mix it up a little bit, play a little bit of man, a little bit of box and one, but we just ran our sets. We were getting good shots and we got the ball in to Jess (Davenport), and Brandie (Hoskins) got a few lay-ups. I think we executed well.
On the play of the team: I think there might have been a little bit of nerves for some people but some of the shots that we missed were shots that we don't normally take. Once we settled down and took the shots that we're used to taking within our offensive system then we were fine.
Sophomore Center Jessica Davenport
On her play during the game:
I was tentative the first part of the game and that's what (Coach Foster) told me. I think I did a better job of inching it up and just playing my game.
Sophomore Guard Brandie Hoskins
On her role on the team:
My job is to create, if they've taken away something, like they were trying to take away Jess (Davenport), we've got great shooters, great penetrators, and it's just to move the ball and get the next pass and get the easiest shot.
