Liberty Postgame Quotes versus Penn State
Carey Green, Liberty Head Coach
On first NCAA Tournament win:
I'm so pleased the way the senior leadership stepped up, especially in the second half. We're just thrilled. We're all excited. This is March Madness and we've been fortunate enough to get this first win for the history of our school.
On magnitude of first NCAA victory:
Well, it's pretty simple. We've been trying to get this one for nine games and we finally got the win. It's been a process that started nine years ago that started with Coach Rick Reeves setting a foundation. This particular year we set high standards and our non-conference schedule was pretty brutal with games at Kansas State, Ohio State, Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Richmond. That was a process to toughen these seniors up. This is got to be the greatest win in our history considering that we've never been successful in the NCAA's.
Senior Center Katie Feenstra
On winning first NCAA game:
We have worked so hard in practice and this year we finally have the confidence we needed going into this game. We had the confidence in each other and we came to play ball, and that's what we did.
On responding to playing Penn State:
I'm always excited to play in these big games especially when we're not favored to win because I like to show people what our team is made of and what we are capable of doing.
On magnitude of what they have accomplished:
I don't think its sunk in totally because I'm still kind of jittery. I'm so happy. I don't even know how to express how happy I am. We have wanted this so bad for so many years and we finally got the win.
