The University of Maryland's wrestling team was recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) for its outstanding academic achievements during the 2004-05 year. The Terps compiled a team GPA of 3.0498, which ranked 12th in the country.
Maryland had the highest GPA of any team in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Brown, Princeton and Stanford had the nation's top grade-point averages.
This Terps were also honored by the ACC several weeks ago as recipients of the Sportsmanship Award.
The Terps, under second-year coach Pat Santoro, produced their first ACC champion in Charlie Pinto since 2002.
