College Park, Md. -
Harry Alford has been named Inside Lacrosse's National Player of the Week following his superb performance in the ACC Tournament this past weekend in Baltimore.
The sophomore goalie, who was also named tournament MVP, stopped 15 shots and helped the Maryland defense limit No. 2 Duke, the nation's highest scoring offense, to a season-low five goals in the Terps' 9-5 win in the conference finals Sunday afternoon.
The Washington, D.C., native, helped get Maryland into the finals with a 12-save performance vs. No. 3 Virginia, including stopping two point-blank Cavalier shots in overtime.
This is the second time this season Alford has earned Inside Lacrosse's player of the week honor, the only player to win the award more than once. He was previously selected on February 28, following his 25-save effort in Maryland's 13-6 victory over then-No. 5 Georgetown.
Freshman midfielder Will Dalton was an honorable mention selection for the award this week as well. The Queenstown, Md., native won 14 of 21 face-offs in the ACC Tournament and was named to the all-tournament team.
