
Comcast Center Named Host for 2008 NCAA Women's Basketball First & Second Rounds

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland was selected as one of eight sites for the first and second rounds of the 2008 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship, the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee announced Wednesday.
The University of Maryland will host an NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament at Comcast Center for the second time in four years and the ninth time overall. Comcast Center was host to the event in March 2005, the first year the first and second rounds were changed to an eight-team, eight-site format.
Other first- and second-round sites for 2008 are The Pit at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M., Pete Maravich Assembly Center at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., Bridgeport Arena at Harbor Yard at Fairfield University in Bridgeport, Conn., Wells Fargo Arena at Iowa State University in Des Moines, Iowa, Ted Constant Convocation Center at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., Maples Pavilion at Stanford University in Stanford, Calif., Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C., and Mackey Arena at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
Maryland and these regional sites will host games either Saturday, March 22 and Monday, March 24 or Sunday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 25, 2008. The exact dates and ticket information will be announced at a later date.
