Terps Announce 2005 Fall Schedule

Aug. 26, 2005

College Park, Md. - The University of Maryland men's lacrosse team will play in two tournaments in October, head coach Dave Cottle announced today.

The Terps, which advanced to the 2005 NCAA semifinals, travel to Ohio State for the MRB Buckeye Classic on October 1 to meet Butler at 11 a.m. on the Woody Hayes North Turf Field and the host Buckeyes at 1 p.m. at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center Indoor Field.

The event is named in honor of Michael R. Breschi, the late son of Ohio State head coach Joe Breschi, who died in March 2004 at age 3 in an accident.

Admission is $5 and proceeds from the event will go toward the Michael Breschi Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund at Ohio State. The scholarship is awarded annually to a member of the Buckeye men's lacrosse team.

"Putting this tournament together is a great way to keep Michael's memory alive," Breschi said. "With quality teams like Maryland, Michigan and Butler participating, it will be a wonderful event and a great experience for everyone involved.

"I appreciate Maryland, a Final Four team last year, coming out from the East Coast; it's great to have a team of that caliber participate. Coach Cottle is a great friend and has a terrific program. We're excited to have them visit Columbus."

The following Saturday, October 8, Maryland will travel to St. Louis for the Fifth Annual Fall Face-Off at the Anheuser-Busch Center and a rematch with Ohio State in the 2 p.m. game.
