Great Meadows Invitational Results
Going up against some of the top competition in the country, the women's cross country team finished third at the Great Meadows Invitational Saturday.
In their first competition of the season the Terps faced top-25 teams Michigan State and Georgetown and were pleased with how they measured up. Maryland put two runners in the top-15 and saw a 1-5 split of just 0:49.
"The women were fantastic," said coach Dr. Michael Garrison. "It was nice to see them reap some rewards and benefits from all the hard work they put in this summer."
Senior Cori Koch came in 10th overall, completing the 5K course in 17:56. She was the third-fastest non-Michigan competitor. Koch was followed for Maryland by junior Laurel Jefferson who posted an 18:28.
The 21st through 24th spots belonged to Terp runners. Freshman Kylynn McKinley ran a 18:40 in her collegiate debut, good for 21st overall. She was followed by seniors Shari Gorga, Katie Purcell and Danielle Siebert.
In her first meet since an injury sidelined her all of last season, senior Allison Carney finished 26th overall.
