Maryland's Jason Garey was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week after leading the Terrapins to a pair of victories over ranked opponents last weekend.
Garey registered six points on three goals in wins over No. 4 Santa Clara and No. 11 Virginia Commonwealth en route to being named Offensive MVP of the Maryland/adidas Classic. The senior forward scored the first goal of the game just 93 seconds in to give Maryland the early 1-0 lead over the Broncos. Garey would tally his second goal of the afternoon in the 33rd minute to solidify a 3-1 victory for the Terps.
In Sunday's 3-0 win over VCU, Garey tallied his fourth goal of the season in the 76th minute as the Terrapins collected back-to-back wins over ranked opponents. The Gonzalez, La., native moved into third all-time at Maryland for career goals (42) and career points (98). The Terrapins move to 3-0 on the season when Garey tallies a goal.
Gary and the Terrapins are back in action this weekend as they open their conference schedule with a home contest against Clemson on Friday and then face St. Bonaventure on Sunday.
