COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Shawne Merriman will be joined by current and former members of the Terps' football team at this Sunday's men's basketball game versus Wake Forest as part of the NFL rookie standout's third annual Coat Drive.
Merriman and Co. will be collecting coats at Comcast Center starting at 6:00 p.m. (when the doors open for the 7:30 p.m. game) and will keep collecting until halftime.
Started in 2004, the coat drive will benefit the Community for Creative Non-Violence Shelter. The drive was the brainchild of Merriman, a local athlete who comes from less-than-priveleged beginnings and has worked his way to NFL Rookie of the Year and, most recently, Associated Press All-Pro standards.
For fans unable to attend the game, coats will be accepted in the Academic Support and Career Development Unit in the Gossett Football Team House in Byrd Stadium from 9:00AM - 5:00PM weekdays through Friday, January 13th.
Autograph Information
Because he wants to be a part of collecting the coats, Merriman has designated a time that he will sit down at a table in the concourse and sign autographs for interested fans. He will be available for autographs from 6:45 - 7:15 p.m. only, and asks that fans interested wait until that time while he helps with the drive.
