COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Three recently-departed University of Maryland football players will put their skills on display in postseason all-star games in the next two weekends.
This Saturday, January 21, cornerback Gerrick McPhearson and linebacker William Kershaw will each make it to the field in hopes of playing well in front of potential NFL suitors. McPhearson will play and wear No. 4 for the East squad in the East-West Shrine game. The game will take place at San Antonio's Alamo Dome and will be televised live by ESPN2 at 4:00 p.m.
Later in the day, Kershaw will take the field at Honolulu, Hawaii's Aloha Stadium in the Hula Bowl game. Kershaw was the Terps' third-leading tackler with 76 and posted 5.5 tackles for loss. The game will also air live (7:00 p.m., ESPN).
The following Saturday, ACC Defensive Player of the Year D'Qwell Jackson will hope that he can finish strong after a week in front of National Football League scouts and become the latest Terrapin to perform well at the annual Senior Bowl. The Mobile, Ala., bowl typically features each year's top draft-eligible seniors and will air live on ESPN at 3:00 p.m. on January 28th.
The trio, as well as early-entry Vernon Davis and others, will show their skills one final time for pro scouts at Maryland's Pro Day on March 15 in College Park. The event is closed to the public but results will be made available on UMTerps.com.
