College Park, Md. - Maryland goalkeeper Nikki Resnick was one of 30 players invited by the U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team to its first training camp of 2006 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., from Jan. 14-21.

Resnick, a native of Boca Raton, Fla., will be a senior this coming season for the Terps. As a junior she earned first team all-ACC honors after leading the conference in saves per game (6.24). Resnick made 115 saves on the season and recorded four shutouts. With just two years at Maryland under her belt, Resnick is already fourth on the school's career saves list with 230 and is fifth in career shutouts with 11.

"We're all happy for Nikki," said Maryland head coach Brian Pensky. "She deserves this opportunity. Nikki was first eam all-ACC this past fall - that alone speaks volumes about her as a goalkeeper. Nikki is now getting to measure herself at a different level, and I am confident that she'll do quite well."

U.S. U-21 head coach Jill Ellis will begin the process of selecting a team to participate in the annual Nordic Cup, being held this coming summer in Norway. The USA has won an unprecedented seven straight Nordic Cups against the top U-21 teams from Europe.

Numerous players who are eligible for the next Nordic Cup spent time with the full Women's National Team and the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team earlier this month, giving Ellis a chance to bring in some new players for evaluation in her January training camp.
