COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -
Jade Perry had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 6 Maryland overcame a sluggish first half to claim a 82-49 victory over Manhattan on Monday.
Five players scored at least 10 points in the ninth straight win for the Terrapins (12-1). Shay Doron scored 16, while Ashleigh Newman netted 14. Marissa Coleman and Laura Harper added 12 apiece for the Terps. Maryland prevailed despite shooting a season-low 36.2 percent from the field.
Kymesha Alston scored 13 points off the bench for the Jaspers (4-7), who lost their third straight.
The Terps never trailed even though Manhattan kept it close into the opening moments of the second half. Maryland led 33-24 at halftime and Manhattan's Gabrielle Cottrell hit a 3-pointer to open the second half, pulling the Jaspers within six. But the Terps outscored Manhattan 49-25 in the last 20 minutes for their 12th win by 20-plus points.
Maryland started the game on a 10-0 run, but completed 25 percent of their field goal attempts and committed 11 turnovers in the first half.
The Jaspers couldn't take advantage of Maryland's miscues, as they struggled almost as badly during the opening 20 minutes. Manhattan made 39.1 percent of their shots and turned over the ball 15 times before halftime.
Perry had her third double-double of the season and her best game since scoring 23 points and grabbing 13 rebounds against Mount St. Mary's on Dec. 4. She netted 10 of her 17 points during the second half, helping the Terps pull away.
