COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Two of the youngest starting lineups in the ACC square off when the sixth-ranked Terrapin women's basketball team hosts Georgia Tech on Thursday night, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. Maryland is looking to improve to 5-1 in conference play for the first time since 1991-92.
Maryland head coach Brenda Frese will also be going for her 125th-career victory. Last year, she picked up her 100th-career win against the Yellow Jackets in Comcast Center on Feb. 3, 2005.
The Terps (17-2, 4-1 ACC) boast the youngest starting lineup in the conference. Maryland's underclassmen have started a combined 75 times so far this season and Georgia Tech (14-3, 3-1 ACC) is next in line with 48 underclassmen starts. Frese has had at least three sophomores in the lineup in every game and one freshman in the lineup in all but one game.
Freshman Kristi Toliver (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) is this week's ACC's Rookie of the Week. She is coming off a 17-point outing at Virginia Tech. She scored 10-consecutive points late in the game to give the lead to Maryland, a lead it would not relinquish late in the game.
Also at Virginia Tech, sophomore Crystal Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J./Willinboro) became the 21st player in school history to grab 500 career rebounds. She also posted her 27th-career double-double, tallying 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Tickets are still available for tomorrow night's game and can be purchased at the Comcast Center Ticket Office by calling 1-800-IMA-TERP or by purchasing online at www.umterps.com.
