The Maryland Gymnastics team will travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina for a quad meet with No. 16 ranked Kentucky, No. 24 ranked North Carolina and James Madison on Sunday, January 29 at 1p.m.
The Terps are coming off a close loss to Illinois (192.45-190.4) and are now 1-2 on the season. Ginny Scott scored a career-high on vault (9.85) and Rachel Martinez notched a 9.825 on vault to give Maryland its highest season total on vault (48.775). The Terps tallied a season-high 48.25 on uneven bars and Martinez also won her second all-around title of the season (38.9). Martinez was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week on January 10.
North Carolina is 6-0 and ranked first in the EAGL conference. Christine Robella has won the all-around title in the Tar Heels two meets this season. She was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week on January 18. Courtney Bumpers scored a 9.9 on floor exercise in North Carolina's win over William & Mary last week.
Kentucky is 4-0 and ranked No. 16 in the nation. Krystle Cook has won two all-around titles for the Wildcats this season. Lucy Bergin notched a season-high 9.85 on vault in Kentucky's win over Auburn (194.975-192.8) last week.
Maryland defeated James Madison in its season opener, 189.3-177.75). The Dukes are 2-5 on the season. Lindsey Ribeiro (9.625 on vault) and Christina Skiffington (9.625 on balance beam) scored season-highs at the George Washington Invitational two weeks ago for James Madison.
The Terps will return home Saturday, February 4 at 7 p.m. They will host North Carolina, North Carolina State and Towson in the Governor's Cup.
