So I was just thinking how crazy it is when I break down the next couple of months.
First: The Finale of Boot Camp (Sweet! Awesome! Phew, it's over.)
Next: Mid-Terms (Hectic papers, projects and exams.)
After That: Intra-Squad (Excitement & nerves for the new season.)
Then: Thanksgiving (Friends, family & food.)
Followed By: Finals (Ahhh! Eeeek! Study, work, study!)
And: The holiday season. (More friends, family & food.)
Before I know it I will be competing in my final season as a Terp. I can't believe that 4 years has already passed. It has truly been an experience and I have many great memories. I know this year will leave me with many more and now the freshmen can be a part of my Maryland Memories.
Everyone on the team has continued to grow and mature in their gymnastics since I've been here. The sophomores are a joy to have in the gym. They continue to make us smile and keep our spirits high. Kelsey and Lindsey W. are starting to make great strides and improvements on vault. Kim had some great things going for her this summer and now I wish her a speedy and healthy recovery from her recent surgery.
I remember hosting some of the juniors on their recruiting trips and I can't believe they are one year away from graduating. They are persistent in their work and it shows. Morgan had a break out season last year and did phenomenal on floor. This year she is already looking good on all the events. Lindsey B. also had a great season and I can't wait to see all of her routines and skills put together in the gym. And there's Gretchen, my how-to guru on coming back strong from an injury. She is my inspiration and I know she will do great this season, with whatever vault, bar routine or floor passes she decides on.
Finally, onto the old ladies of the team. Angela came to Maryland with grips that were four sizes to big for her and a great dislike for bars. Now she is putting together a bar routine and could do all-around this year. Her gymnastics is dynamic and beautiful and she is still continuing to learn and excel in every event. Our rock, Rachel, had an awesome season last year competing in all-around almost every meet. Her self-assurance and grace will definitely be beneficial to our team this year.
As for myself, I am really looking forward to competing again. Come November it will have been a year since I injured my knee and had to sit out all of last season. After seven months of physical therapy and 4 months of actual practice, I am finally starting to get back all my old skills and routines. Just like riding a bike... Well maybe a unicycle. It has been a long journey, and it is still ongoing but I am really learning to appreciate everything and realize all the blessings I have received.
