Baltimore, MD - University of Maryland Women's Head Basketball Coach Brenda Frese and members of the 2006 National Championship team will visit Sports Legends at Camden Yards for a special program on Thursday, October 26th, at 6:30pm.
"It's an honor and a privilege to be guests of the Sports Legends Museum," said Coach Frese. "We are proud to be included among the athletes and treasures of Baltimore, the state of Maryland and its great sports history. We continuously strive to represent the sport, the school, the state and its fans in a positive light. It's humbling to be a part of the incredible array of athletes and athletic moments."
Coach Frese, sophomore Marissa Coleman, junior Crystal Langhorne and junior Laura Harper will discuss their journey to the national championship and preview the upcoming season. There will be a question and answer session, a book signing and prizes/give-aways. The book signing will feature Coach Frese's new book, Overtime Is Our Time, available for purchase in the Sports Legends Museum's store. The program is free with paid admission to the Museum, or with the purchase of Coach Frese's book. Only one autograph from each guest per admission or book purchase will be allowed.
Also making the journey to the Sports Legends Museum will be the women's 2006 NCAA National Championship Trophy. The trophy is on loan from Maryland and will be displayed in the Museum next to the University of Maryland Men's NCAA Championship Trophy from 2002.
Head Coach Brenda Frese, who earlier this month was named Nike's Coach of the Year, is in her fifth year as head coach of Maryland women's basketball. Described as dynamic, overachieving, determined and enthusiastic, she has compiled a 107-71 (.601) career record in six seasons as a head coach. Frese has guided Maryland to the most wins since 1992-93, back-to-back non-losing records in ACC play for the first time since 1992-93 and 1993-94, and consecutive NCAA Tournament berths for the first time in 12 years, ultimately leading the Lady Terps to their National Championship win in 2006.
The University of Maryland is among eight area colleges and universities featured in the College Game Day exhibit gallery at Sports Legends at Camden Yards. The history of the University of Maryland's athletic program is told, and numerous artifacts are on display. Sports Legends is operated by the Babe Ruth Museum.
