Former Maryland men's soccer standout Taylor Twellman will lead the New England Revolution into the 2006 MLS Cup on Sunday, November 12 at 3:30 p.m. at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. The Revs will battle the Houston Dynamo in front of a national audience as the match will be aired live on ABC.

Twellman scored the lone goal of the match in the Eastern Conference final against D.C. United in the fourth minute to lead the Revs to the 1-0 win on November 5. It was his second goal of the postseason and Pat Noonan and Jay Heaps were credited with the assist.

Twellman has been a force on the New England attack since he joined the club in 2002. He started all 32 games for the Revs this season and notched 11 goals in the regular season to lead the team. He also dished out five assists.

In 2005, Twellman enjoyed a spectacular season and was named the Honda MLS Most Valuable Player. He was also the 2005 Budweiser Golden Boot winner as the league's top scorer, the MLS All-Star Game Honda MVP, and named to the RadioShack Best XI. He has scored over 50 goals in his New England career and is the only player to reach that milestone in club history.

In just two seasons at College Park, Twellman etched his name into the Maryland record books. In 1998, he scored 16 goals which is ninth in a single season in school history and his 40 points that year is seventh. On the career list, he ranks 10th in points with 73. In his two years, Twellman tallied 28 goals and 17 assists.
