Maryland Head Coach Missy Meharg
On the win:
"We're pleased to continue to play. At this point in the year, it's all about getting another game and putting yourself in the position to take it another step and be in the position to go to the Final Four. This team is pretty seasoned. This senior class has been in this position three times. We are confident with the way we played in the second half."
On the halftime talk and second half play:
"We mostly talked about the battle. There's Richmond, Maryland, a ball, and the reality is, we need to get to the ball first. We responded and did that very well in the second half. We intercepted and we looked for each other right away. I'm not sure that across the board we were prepared for Richmond to step on the field the way they did, although in post-season every team has its own new look and energy."
Maryland senior Paula Infante
On Maryland's improvement in the second half:
"We put our minds on being more competitive. At the beginning, we were bouncing back from the game against Wake Forest. We had to set our minds to being more competitive and fighting for what we wanted."
Richmond head coach Ange Bradley
Overall thoughts on the game:
"Maryland is a great team and to have the opportunity to play them is a wonderful opportunity. I think we played a really good 35 minutes against the number two team in the country and I think as the half progressed their ball speed and experience overwhelmed us."
Stand out player:
Overall, I think Jodi Murphy did a great job. We had moments in the first half where I think everyone stepped up and played.
Changes for next season:
"We've got to work on being able to play seventy minutes of hockey against teams of this level. We've been very good at being able to play 35 minutes, so we need to just keep playing through the summer and playing against higher ball speed and just keep working on our ball speed and our shots."
