Hess Places Third as Armory Meet Finishes

Maryland Men Finish 14th at NCAA Regional

Lock Haven, Pa. - Junior Peter Hess led the Maryland men's cross country team to a 14th place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Lock Haven, Pa. today. Six of the Terps top seven runners at the meet were underclassmen.

Hess ran the 10k race in 31:29.8 and placed 31st overall. The Toms River, N.J. native has been the first Terp to finish in all but one race this season.

Following Hess were freshmen Greg Kelsey, who ran a 32:20.2 and placed 58th, and Ben Diestel, who placed 80th in 32:46.80.

Freshmen Kevin Gahr (93rd, 33:02.0) and Joe Simpson (102nd, 33:10.0) and sophomores Josh Davis (106th, 33:16.2) and Richie Booth (108th, 33:18.20) rounded out the top-seven Terp finishers.

Freshman Samuel Chelanga was the individual champion. He finished the race in 30:09.6. The Georgetown men came away with the team championship, followed by American and Villanova.
