Braffet, Purcell Hit NCAA Provisional Marks

Terps Place Ninth at NCAA Regional

Junior Meghan Braffet placed 23rd at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, to lead the University of Maryland women's cross country team to a ninth place finish.

The junior from Carlock, Ill., finished the 6k race in 21:21.0. Teammate Laurel Jefferson followed Braffet, running a 21:54.7 and placing 40th.

Freshmen Ashley Campbell and Erin Matyus were the third and fourth Terps to finish. Campbell finished 49th in 21:58.3, while Matyus placed 50th, finishing the race in 21:58.7.

Princeton won the team title, followed by Georgetown and La Salle. Junior Frances Koons of Villanova was the individual champion, coming in at 20:02.9.
