Terrapins Postgame Notes
Team Notes:
• With today's victory, Boston College now leads the all-time series, 3-1. The Terps had their five-game winning streak (longest since five in-a-row to close out 2003) snapped.
• Today's loss means Maryland (8-3, 5-2) needs some help to claim the Atlantic Division title. Wake Forest must defeat Virginia Tech this evening, or Boston College must lose to Miami Thursday. In addition, Maryland has to beat the Demon Deacons next week.
• The Terps surrendered four turnovers, three of which resulted in BC touchdowns. Entering the game, opponents had scored just 38 points off turnovers over the first 10 games of the season.
• The Terps offense eclipsed 300 yards of total offense (331) for the fifth time this season. Maryland had a season-high 366 in the season-opening win over William & Mary.
Player Notes:
• Sam Hollennbach moved from sixth to fifth on the Maryland career passing yards chart with a season-high 249 through the air today. He has 4.734 in his career. Hollenbach spread the ball around, connecting with nine different receivers on the day. This was his third-straight 200-yard game and fourth of the season. He has connected on 61 of 92 passes for 798 yards over his last three games.
• With three field goals today, Dan Ennis moved into third-place on the Terps single-season field goals made chart with 18. He is 18 of 22 on the season and has made 11-straight attempts. His final FG - a 46-yarder - matched his career-long (vs. Georgia Tech, Oct. 7, 2006). With 35 career field goals, he ranks sixth on the UM career list. He also moved into a tie for 13th on the single-season scoring list (80) and a tie for 10th on the career chart.
• Lance Ball's 23 rushing yards moves him from 17th to 16th on the UM career rushing yards list. He has 1,557 career rushing yards.
• RB Josh Allen completed his first career pass, a 9-yard TD to Danny Oquendo on a halfback option in the third quarter.
• Boston College's Jolonn Dunbar returned a pair fumbles (14 and 38 yards) for touchdowns in the opening quarter, tying the NCAA record for most fumble returns for scores in one game (two by four others). It marked the third fumble return for a TD by Dunbar against the Terps in the past two seasons. He was the last player to score on a fumble vs. the Terps, returning one 94 yards for a TD on Nov. 18, 2005.
• Erin Henderson had a team-best nine stops, but had his string of double-digit tackle games stopped at five.
