
Pinto Named ACC Wrestler of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Charlie Pinto, who won the 141 pound bracket at the Body Bar Systems Invitational at Cornell on Saturday, has been named the ACC Wrestler of the Week, announced today by the conference office. Pinto rolled to a 4-0 tournament and improved his overall season record to 9-0 in the process.
Pinto opened the tournament with a 10-2 major decision against Lief Giladorf of Army and then won 10-5 against Joe Ciampoli of Pittsburgh in the second round. The major decision was Pinto's third of the season. In the semifinals, Pinto pinned Cornell's Keith Dickey, ranked No. 18 in the country, in 4:52. In the final, he faced teammate Alex Krom, who he beat 5-3 to capture the title.
Pinto is now a perfect 9-0 to start the season in three weekends of action. He has recorded a team-best three major decisions and earned his first fall of the year on Saturday.
Pinto and the rest of the Terrapins wrestling team take on No. 18 Nebraska on Saturday, November 18 at the Comcast Pavilion. Action is slated to start at 4:00 p.m.
