As I started the recruiting process, I was really nervous and stressed out. I was talking to many colleges and I had absolutely no idea where I wanted to go to school. The first time I talked to Brett Nelligan on the phone I knew that the University of Maryland was my number one choice. He immediately sold the school to me, and his excitement and attitude about the gymnastics program at Maryland was unlike anything I had heard.
It seems like Maryland had so much to offer that I couldn't possibly turn it down. The incredible academic acheivements, potential of the current gymnasts and the girls who were being recruited, as well as the historical location of the school were all contributing factors.
Coming from Houston, Texas, I was also excited about having four seasons, four real seasons. The one thing that completely pulled my heart towards the University of Maryland was the family atmosphere. I come from a big family here in Houston, and I am going to miss my family so much. I am so excited about working with Vicki, Duke, and Brett and I am just as excited to be training with the girls!
When I signed my NLI, I was overjoyed to be surrounded by people who have watched me grow as an athlete over the last ten years. My coaches and teammates have helped me grow, not only as a gymnast, but as an individual. It is such a blessing to see the benefits behind all of the hard work I have put into my gymnastics career. I am continually more and more enthusiastic about my future at the University of Maryland.
Go Terps!!
