Top-Ranked Terps Jam in the Bahamas
• For the second-straight year, the Terrapins travel to the "islands" for the Thanksgiving holidays. Top-ranked Maryland, along with Gardner-Webb, Mississippi and Northwestern, play in the Junkanoo Jam on the Grand Bahama Island in the Bahamas. Maryland is looking to extend its opening-season win streak, as the Terps are off to their best start since the 2000-01.
• The Terps open the Junkanoo Jam against Gardner-Webb in the second game on Friday, Nov. 24. Ole Miss and Northwestern play prior to the Terps and the Bulldogs at 6 p.m. The winners move on to the championship game, the late game on Saturday, Nov. 25, after the consolation game slated for 6 p.m.
• Both games will be broadcast on the radio and on the internet. On Friday, the game can be heard on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network (Flagship 1300 AM Baltimore) with Matt Noble and Dave Preston calling all the action. On Saturday, fans can listen in the Baltimore area on ESPN Radio 1300 AM. Both games will be streamed live on the Terps' official athletics site at www.umterps.com.

Terps Win BTI Classic
• The Terps won the first-ever BTI Classic which was hosted at Comcast Center, sweeping 2006 NCAA Tournament participant TCU (82-64), the Pac-10's Arizona (75-61) and then-25th ranked George Washington (73-48).
• Junior All-American Crystal Langhorne was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after averaging 14.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 75 percent from the floor. Senior Shay Doron had three-straight double-digit games, opening with a 22-point and seven-rebound performance against TCU. She also had seven boards against George Washington.
• Junior Laura Harper also had a standout performance in the BTI Classic. She netted a career-high 27 points vs. the Lady Frogs, tallying 14 points in the final two games.
• The BTI Classic was the first of three in-season tournaments for the Terrapins. Maryland will play in the Junkanoo Jam and the Terrapin Classic before the end o the calendar year.

In the Rankings
• Maryland remains in the top spot in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll after starting the season at 5-0.
• The Terps garnered the No. 1 spot in the preseason poll, the first time in the history of the program they opened the season as the top team in the nation.
• Four Maryland opponents are also ranked in the top 25. North Carolina is second in both polls, with Duke also earning a No. 5 rating. Michigan State is ranked 17th by the writers and 16 coaches. George Washington, who went 2-1 in the BTI Classic last weekend, is 21st in the coaches poll and is ranked 23rd in the AP. The ACC's Boston College also makes its first appearance in the polls this week, garnering a No. 22 ranking in the coaches poll.
• Florida State, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Middle Tennessee State, TCU, Northwestern and Temple are all receiving votes in one or both polls.

Terps as No. 1
• After receiving the No. 1 ranking in both the Association Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, the Terrapins have spent seven weeks in both polls as the No. 1 team in the nation in the history of the program.
• Maryland's all-time record when ranked No. 1 in the AP poll is 11-2. Its record is 11-2 when ranked No. 1 by the coaches.
• Maryland was the AP's No. 1 team from Jan. 19-Feb. 15, 1992, and the coaches' top team from Jan. 21-Feb. 17, 1992. The Terps have been ranked No. 1 for three weeks this season in both polls.

ABOUT...
• GARDNER-WEBB: The Runnin' Bulldogs come into the tournament at 2-2, defeating South Carolina State, 55-47, on Tuesday, the night before traveling to the Bahamas. GW is averaging jsut 53.8 points per game, with only two players averaging double figures. Shameka Smith is netting 12.5 points per game, while teammate Brittany Harmon is contributing 10.5 ppg. Gardner-Webb, under the direction of third-year head coach Rick Reeves, is allowing 51.8 ppg to opponents. Eight of the team's 13 players are underclassmen. It is the first-ever meeting with Gardner-Webb.
• MISSISSIPPI: Ole Miss is also coming off a win on Tuesday night, defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 79-46, to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Rebels are scoring at a rapid rate, netting one of the highest averages in the country (91.0 ppg). The have scored in the 90s in four f five games, but have yet to reach the century mark. Armintie Price leads the team with 19.6 points per game. She has been named to several preseason All-American teams and was named a candidate for the John R. Wooden Award. If the Terps meet the Rebels on Saturday, it will be the first-ever meeting between the teams.
• NORTHWESTERN: The Wildcats are 3-0 heading into the Junkanoo Jam matchup vs. Mississippi. After opening the season at home against Valparaiso, winning 65-45, then hit the road for its next two games at Loyola-Chicago and Miami of Ohio. No Northwestern opponent has scored more than 60. NU has three players averaging double figures, led by Sara Stutz's 18.0 points per game. The Wildcats, who are averaging 46.0 rebounds per game, have three players averaging more than 6.0 rpg, led by Melissa Miller's 8.3 rpg. Should the Terps face the Wildcats on Saturday, it would be the first meeting between the teams.

Coming Up
• After its trip to the Bahamas for the Junkanoo Jam, the Terrapins hit the road again to face Marshall on Wednesday, Nov. 29. The game will be webcast on the Herds' official website at www.HerdZone.com.
