COLLEGE PARK, Md. - On the heels of the Terps' 13-12 upset victory at Clemson on Saturday, the Maryland football team enters the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches' Poll this week for the first time since the 2004 season.
In the latest edition of the AP Top 25 poll released yesterday, Maryland was ranked 23rd, with a total of 178 votes. The last time that the Terps found themselves in the national polls, they were seated 23rd as well on October 9, 2004.
Atop the ACC's Atlantic Division along with 18th-ranked Wake Forest, the Terps find themselves in the same position in the most recent Bowl Championship Series standings. In addition, the USA Today Coaches Poll has the Terps in the 24th slot. Maryland is one of five ACC teams to be ranked this week.
The Terps are back in action as they return home to face Miami this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in regional television coverage on ABC.
