The Maryland Gymnastics team will take on EAGL conference opponent, Pittsburgh, Ohio State and SUNY Brockport, February 11 at 7 p.m. Maryland is 5-4 on the season and currently ranked No. 6 in the southeast Region. Pittsburgh is 3-2 and ranked No. 4 in the northeast region. Ohio State is 5-3 and ranked No. 7 in the central region. SUNY Brockport is 1-2 and ranked No. 17 in the northeast region.
Rachel Martinez notched season highs on floor exercise (9.9) and all-around (39.2) to lead the Terps to a season high 192.375 in the Governor's Cup on Saturday. Alex Gatch (9.8) and Rachel Colon (9.775) tallied season highs on balance beam, finishing in first and second place, respectively.
The Terps will face a Pittsburgh squad that is coming off a season high 191.950 in a win against Rutgers on Saturday. Andrea Arlotta is tied for first in the EAGL with a season high 9.875 on vault and has won three all-around titles this season. Jessica Garber (Jan. 18) and Amanda Rushton (Jan.24) were each named EAGL Specialist of the Week this season.
Ohio State is coming off a season-high score of 194.5 at West Virginia last week. Maalika Moore-Thomas leads the Buckeyes in the all-around and has scored season highs on vault (9.825), beam (9.825) and all-around (39.175). Kaylin Schlecht leads the team on bars and is coming off a season-high score of 9.9 on that event.
SUNY Brockport is 1-2 and ranks No. 17 in the northeast region. The Golden Eagles won their season opener against Ursinus on Saturday. Sarah Bulka has won three all-around titles and holds team-high scores on every event this season.
Maryland will return home Friday, February 17, when it hosts Pittsburgh and Rutgers at 7 p.m. in the Comcast Pavilion.
