COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Fourth-ranked Maryland looks to wrap up a successful regular season hosting Northern Colorado on Sunday, Feb. 26 with tip-off scheduled for 2 p.m. The Terps will honor their two seniors in Charmaine Carr and Angel Ross prior to the start of the game.
Carr (Accokeek, Md./Gwynn Park) and Ross (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) are the first class to play four seasons under Maryland head coach Brenda Frese. Carr and Ross arrived in College Park as freshmen in 2002-03, Frese's first season, and won just 10 games that year. They leave Maryland four years later as members of a top five-ranked squad who will contend for an ACC and NCAA title.
Maryland rounded out its ACC regular season schedule with a dominating win over Clemson on Thursday, 89-63. With the victory, the Terps ended the season with a 12-2 conference mark, the most wins since 1991-92, and tied for second in the ACC standings, the best showing in 13 years.
The Terps host the Bears for a final tuneup before heading into the ACC Tournament, where they look to capture their first conference title since 1989. The Bears put on an exciting performance last season when they visited Comcast Center for the first time, draining 16 threes in the contest. However, Maryland overcame Northern Colorado's shooting exhibition, claiming an 87-79 decision.
After its final home contest with the Bears, Maryland heads down to Greensboro, N.C., for the ACC Tournament which begins Thursday, March 2. The Terps earned a first-round bye and begin their postseason action on Friday, March 3. The outcome of the North Carolina-Duke matchup on Saturday, Feb. 25 will determine the Terps' final seeding.
