Coach Brenda Frese:
"A good game especially for our seniors. Like I told them in the locker room, we are just extremely proud of this team and what we have been able to accomplish; going 26-3 this season."
"Today's game, it was an unselfish game. We moved the ball and looked for each other and that's what we are going to need to do to prepare for the ACC tournament and for the NCAAs. We are going to need everyone to play their best."
"We are really looking forward to what's next. We are not satisfied with where we are at and we are looking forward to the ACC tournament."
On playing an unranked team prior to the ACC tournament:
"We came out and played with a lot of energy. We continue to work and try to get better. It's great to be able to play everyone and get everyone to contribute."
On preparing to play a predominantly 3 point shooting team:
"It's great. It is always a team like Northern Colorado that prepares you to get ready for the big picture of what is ahead. It is also great practice for our post players."
On Ashleigh Newman:
"We believe in her and everyone is behind her. We need Ashleigh to believe in herself. If we are going to big things as a team we need everyone at their best."
On her tournament philosophy:
"It remains the same, we want to come out and play our best, we want to compete and we want to win. The biggest thing we can control is us and how we play. I am extremely proud of this team and what we have accomplished. There still bigger things ahead for us.
"The ACC tournament is key. When you are talking about your seeding a 1 versus a 2 seed is key, especially in determining the brackets."
"Come NCAA tournament time, we definitely want to be playing our best basketball."
"Ultimately we want to compete for an NCAA title, that's why these players are here- we are not waiting this year!"
"ACC title, NCAA title, our goals haven't changes, these players are champions. I don't want to sit and wait until nest year because our chemistry is right. The sky is the limit for this team."
Junior Guard Shay Doron
On the Maryland record of 26-3:
"We feel proud, we worked really hard. Like I always say, it's a new season now so what we did in the past put us in a good position to compete for a championship but the past is now done and we need to focus on the future."
"It's anybody's game, 0-0, we need to stay focused."
On the tournament seeds:
"We think we can make a statement in the ACC tournament. We think we deserve the number 1. We can make a statement in the ACC tournament and guarantee that spot for us."
Freshman Guard Kristi Toliver
On her feelings going into the ACC tournament:
"I've played basketball for a long time, the tournament is one and done, and it requires a lot of energy. I feel good about it. Whoever we match up with I feel like we are the better team. As long as we play our tempo, our game, we will be fine."
Sophomore Forward/Center Laura Harper
On the first tournament game:
"This team lives in the moment. Every game is an individual game so we are not going to overlook any game."
"Right now we are gelling together as teammates, we have confidence in each other and that is the kind of energy we need going into a tournament."
Northern Colorado Head Coach Ron Vlasin
On the game:
"Maryland is just too big and strong for us, especially inside. We had to give them something and just tried to pack in our defense. We tried to keep [Crystal] Langhorne and the rest from banging us to death inside. But if we'd been able to shoot the ball better, we would have made it a little closer, at least."
On playing Maryland a second straight year:
"They're a lot bigger and stronger than they were last year. They're more skilled and probably even a better showing team than last year, too."
