The Maryland Gymnastics squad will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to face East Atlantic Gymnastics League conference opponents, NC State, George Washington and New Hampshire on Friday at 7p.m. This is the Terps' last regular season meet and final tune-up for the EAGL conference championships which will be held on March 25.
Maryland enters the meet in fifth place in the league and coming off a win on March 7 vs. George Washington, 192.925-191.3. The Terps won 3 out of 4 events to improve to 11-7 on the season and 5-2 in the conference. Angie Ferg tied a career-best score of 9.85 on vault, finishing first overall. Rachel Colon took first place on uneven bars with a 9.775 and Alex Gatch tallied a 9.8 on balance beam for a first-place finish. Martinez paced Maryland on floor exercise with a 9.9 and first-place finish. She has scored a 9.9 or higher on the event in four of the last six meets. Kim Loew scored a career-best 9.85, for a second-place finish. Colon earned her second all-around title of the season with a score of 38.425.
NC State is 14-7 on the season and in third place in the EAGL conference. The Terps defeated NC State at home on February 4, 192.375-192.25. Leigha Hancock has been named EAGL Specialist of the Week three times this season and Rachel Katz earned the honor earlier in the year.
New Hampshire is 11-5 and in fourth place in the league. Amanda Hall is the Wildcats top all-around performer and has been named EAGL Gymnast of the Week three times this season. Mariana Pena Trestini has earned EAGL Specialist of the Week three times and Justine Turner was named EAGL Rookie of the Week on January 24.
George Washington is 10-14 on the season and ranked seventh in the conference. Erin Aiken is the Colonials top all-around performer and Bree Plotsker was named EAGL Rookie of the Week on January 31.
