COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Gymnastics team scored its third highest team total of the season but was edged by Towson, 193.55-193.025. The Terps defeated William & Mary (189.175) and improve to 10-7 on the season.

Angie Ferg notched a 9.8 on vault, finishing second overall. Rebecca Ruppert tallied a 9.65 for sixth place. Alex Gatch and Gretchen Kittelberger tied for seventh place with a 9.6. Maryland scored a 48.2 on the event. Towson's Christina Ghani won the event with a 9.9.

Mandy Pascual tied for first-place overall with Towson's Cristina Lindo on uneven bars with a season-high score of 9.875. Rachel Martinez finished fifth with a 9.75 and Gatch scored a 9.725 for sixth place. Maryland tallied a 48.35 on the event.

Rachel Colon and Martinez tied for second overall on balance beam with a score of 9.725. Kim Loew notched a career-best 9.675 for fifth place and Ferg added a 9.65 for sixth place. The Terps totaled a 47.9 on the event and Towson's Christina Ghani won with a 9.75.

Martinez continued her consistency on floor exercise, scoring a 9.825 for first-place overall. This marks the fifth straight meet she has scored a 9.8 or higher on that event. Loew tallied a 9.725 and tied for fourth place, while Ferg and Morgan Fishbein tied for sixth place with a 9.7. Maryland edged Towson on the event with a 48.575.

Towson's Christina Ghani finished first in the all-around with a 39.025, defeating Martinez who finished second with a 38.45.

The Terps will return to Comcast Pavilion Tuesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. to take on EAGL rival George Washington. Admission is free and it is the last chance to see the 2006 Maryland squad at home.
