The Maryland Terrapins grabbed the top spot in this week's Inside Lacrosse Men's Division I Lacrosse Media Poll following an 8-7 overtime win over previously top-ranked Duke this weekend. The Terps received 19 first-place votes. Virginia landed in second place, receiving three first place votes. Duke fell to third place in the poll giving the ACC the top three spots in the poll for the second straight week.
Rounding out the top five were Navy, which beat North Carolina 11-3 this weekend, and Princeton, which ended Johns Hopkins' 37-game home winning streak following a 6-4 win on Saturday. Hopkins fell to eighth in the poll, its lowest ranking since they were tied for eighth on March 27, 2000.
Cornell, Syracuse, Massachusetts and Georgetown were all other top-ten teams.
Still rocketing through the poll is Denver, which leapt from fifteenth to twelfth in this week's rankings. Delaware, which was thirteenth last week, landed in the eleventh-place spot.
Entering the poll this week are Loyola, Hofstra and UMBC, which are at seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth, respectively. Army, Penn State and Fairfield fell from the top 20.
The Inside Lacrosse media poll comes out every Monday and features voters from media outlets across the country.
