  • Maryland's 50 field goals attempted ties six others for third fewest field goals attempted in a semifinal game and six fewest in a Final Four.
  • Maryland's 56.0 percent field goal percentage is the fourth highest in a semifinal game and the sixth highest in a Final Four game.
  • Maryland's Crystal Langhorne's 10-12 field goal shooting (83.3 percent) ties Katrina McClain, Georgia, 3/29/85 for best in semifinal game and third best in all Final Four games.
  • Maryland's Marissa Coleman's six-for-six free throws and 100.0 percent free throw percentage ties her with eight others for highest free throw percentage in a semifinal and 10 others for best free throw percentage in a Final Four game.

    GENERAL NOTES

  • The No. 2 seed has won each of the last two national championships (Baylor 2005, Connecticut 2004). Prior to that a No. 1 seed had won the tournament the past six straight years.
  • In November of 1995, the first women's basketball game - the Reebok Women's Basketball Classic - was played in the Fleet Center. Ohio State defeated Boston College, 62-40; Vanderbilt defeated UCLA 70-64. The crowd of 8,307 was the largest to ever watch a women's basketball game in Massachusetts.
  • In 1996, 10 years ago, in the Reebok Women's Basketball Classic, Connecticut defeated Boston College 76-38 and Vanderbilt defeated Louisville 73-60. The crowd of 9,337 set the record for attendance of a women's game in Massachusetts.
  • Tonight's crowd of 18,642 sets the record for a women's basketball game in Massachusetts.
  • 2006 was the first time the ACC has had multiple teams in a Final Four and with North Carolina and Duke being No. 1 seeds, it marked the sixth straight year the ACC had a No.1 seed.
  • This marks the 12th time a conference has multiple teams in the Final Four. A conference with multiple teams in the Final Four has had the champion six of 11 times. (SEC seven years and three champions: Big East two years and two championships; Big Ten one year no champions; Sunbelt one year and one champion
  • This is the third time in tournament history two teams from the same conference have met in the championships game. Texas and Arkansas met in 1989 and Tennessee and Georgia met in 1996.
  • This is the second time two teams from the same state have met in the championship final UNC vs DUKE. Notre Dame defeated Purdue in 2001.
  • This is the second straight year a private institution has made the finals, and Duke is just the fifth private institution ever to play in the NCAA Championship game. The others are Southern Cal (2-1), Notre Dame (1-0), and Baylor (1-0).
  • Kodak/WBCA All-Americans in tonight's game: Seimone Augustus (LSU), Monique Currie (Duke), Ivory Latta (North Carolina). Honorable Mention All-Americans include Lindsey Harding (Duke), Crystal Langhorne (Maryland), Erlana Larkins (North Carolina), Sylvia Fowles (LSU) .
