Maryland Water Polo Places Third at ECAC Championship

COLLEGE PARK, Md.- The University of Maryland women's water polo team defeated Wagner 8-7 in the ECAC Championship third-place game.
The Terrapins were up 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, but the Seahawks went on a 4-0 run in the second quarter to put Maryland down 5-3 at halftime. The Terps countered with four goals of their own in the third quarter.
Maryland's eight goals were distributed among six scorers. Orsi Ferenczy and Blaise Stanicic each had two, and Christen Vagts, Bryndis Klein, Rachel Jordan, and Laurel Laidlaw contributed the rest.
The 12:45 matchup between Brown and Princeton will decide first and second place in the nine-team tournament.
Next up for the Terps is George Washington on April 5.
