Biography

Salyer On Jordan: "Rachel is a major threat to any opponent. She provides a significant scoring presence from the center position, yet has the ability to surprise teams with her knack for scoring from the outside. Rachel is a playmaker at both ends of the pool."

Career: Ranks tied for second in school history in points (192), first in goals (157), sixth in assists (35) and second in shots (514).

As a Junior (2008): Had the best season of any Terrapin attacker, setting single-season records for points (86) and goals (65) with the fourth-best shooting percentage (.385)... scored 19 more goals than 2007 while taking only 13 more shots... led or tied for the team lead in goals in 14 games, including a five-goal effort against Harvard (2/17) and a career-best six-goal performance against Wagner (2/24) ... had a season-high eight points vs. Wagner.

As a Sophomore (2007): Finished with 46 goals, third on team... third on the team with 156 shots... her strong inside presence drew 45 kickouts and she was called for only 20... led or tied for team lead in goals in four games... her season-best five goals in win at Pacific tied for the most by a Terrapin in any game on the year... other hat tricks came against Princeton (2/10) and Wagner (2/24).

As a Freshman (2006): Scored a team-high 46 goals in 32 games... earned 29 starts... shooting percentage was 24.3 percent... registered 11 assists and 21 steals.

Before Maryland: Four-time letterwinner in water polo and swimming at Coronado High and Fallbrook High... named captain her junior and senior years... named first team All-Avocado League, first team All-CIF and All-North County.

Personal: Parents are Eileen and Joe Vido... has two sisters, Genevieve (23) and Rebecca (21)... won the Drama Award and Warrior Head Award ... admires Stanford water polo player, Katie Hansen, because of her determination and perseverance... chose Maryland because of the coaching staff and campus ... majoring in English and French.
