Terp Recruit Wins Nike Steeplechase

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Greg Kelsey, an incoming freshman at the University of Maryland for the Fall 2006 semester, recently won the 2,000-meter steeplechase at the Nike Outdoor Nationals meet hosted by North Carolina A&T.
Kelsey, from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., won the event in 6:02.13, earning a three-second victory over high school junior Ryan McDermott, also from New York.
Kelsey placed second in the 3,000 steeplechase at the New York State Federation Championships in 9:11.15 after finishing fourth in the same event as a junior.
