Men's Lacrosse Signee Dan Halayko To Compete At The National High School Senior Showcase

College Park, Md. - University of Maryland men's lacrosse signee Dan Halayko will be competing for the North squad at the 2006 National High School Senior Showcase that will be held from June 23-25 in Fenton, Mo., at the St. Louis Soccer Park. The most diverse boys' lacrosse high school all-star game, featuring some of the nation's top talent, will have players representing 32 different states in the country.

Halayko is one of the top defenders in the state of New York. The 6-4 Halayko helped guide Niskayuna to the 2005 New York State Class AA Championship game by leading a defense that allowed only 3.6 goals per game. This past season Halayko's Silver Warriors advanced to the state quarterfinals. Halayko was the team captain of the Adirondack team at the 2004 Empire State Games that captured the Bronze medal. A tremendous all-around athlete, Halayko is also a three-year letterwinner in football and a four-year letterwinner in basketball. In football he is a two-time all-area honoree. A two-way player, Halayko played wide receiver and defensive back, compiling 103 career receptions and 18 career interceptions.

The four teams at the National High School Senior Showcase are broken up into four regions (East, North, South and West) and will participate in a championship format. The full schedule is below. This is the third year for theNational High School Senior Showcase and the third year that the event has taken placeat the St. Louis Soccer Park.

2006 NSS Schedule (June 24)
Game 1: North vs. West, 9 a.m.
Game 2: South vs. East, 9 a.m.
Third Place game: 1 p.m.
Championship game: 3:15 p.m.

Players were selected based on nominations from their respective area chairman of the US Lacrosse Men's Division Coaches Council. Several regions did not submit players for this event, they include: Anne Arundel County (Md.), Carmel, Calif., Los Angeles, Loudon County (Va.), New York Metro, Northern Va. andSouthern Md.
