Bolston, Gaither on Outland Trophy Watch List

July 4, 2006

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior defensive lineman Conrad Bolston and sophomore tackle Jared Gaither of Maryland have been placed on the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy.

The Outland Trophy is an annual award given to the top lineman in the nation.

Bolston, a senior from Burtonsville, Md., started all 11 games at nose tackle last year, posting 38 tackles and five quarterback sacks. He led the Terrapins in sacks a year ago and will be starting in 2006 for the third straight season.

Gaither, a 6-foot-9, 350-pound sophomore from White Plains, Md., is recognized as one of the Atlantic Coast Conference's bright young stars. He started the last eight games for the Terps last year and played in all 11 while replacing the injured Stephon Heyer. Gaither was a third team Freshman All-American last year as named by College Football News.
