The Terps will also take on BIG EAST counterpart Louisville on Monday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
It is the first ever meeting between the two teams, which is the second time that will happen for the Terps in the young season. Maryland defeated Binghamton, 3-0, in their first meeting on August 27.
Terps 2-0 Last Week
Maryland opened the 2006 season with a 2-0 win at Old Dominion on August 25. An ODU Soccer Stadium record was reached when 3,331 fans came out to watch the nation's top-ranked team.

Junior Stephen King had an impressive week for Maryland with a goal in each match and he added an assist against the Bearcats on Sunday night. He leads the team after one weekend with five points.
A pair of Terp newcomers got their first goals in a Maryland uniform against Binghamton on Sunday. Sophomore Rich Costanzo, a transfer from Penn State, and freshman Jason Herrick scored the first and second goal, respectively, for the Terps in their 3-0 win.
Freshman Omar Gonzalez also picked up the first point of his career when he headed a cross to King who blasted a shot past the Binghamton keeper.

Sophomore Chris Seitz pitched a couple of shutouts for the Terps in goal to improve his record to 15-1-2 at Maryland. It is his third clean sheet in a row dating back to last season's national championship match.
Seitz made four saves in the season opener at ODU and then had to stop only one shot against the Bearcats on Sunday. That shot came in the fourth minute of the match.
Scouting the Bruins
UCLA enters the match ranked No. 10 by the NSCAA in the preseason.
The Bruins and Terps have met four times prior to Friday with each team taking two games.

UCLA won its fourth consecutive PAC-10 title last year, but had to add 13 newcomers this season, earning the top-ranked recruiting class in the country.
The Bruins lost their top four scorers from a year ago. Sal Zizzo is the top returner in that department with a goal and five assists last year. He was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman team in 2005. UCLA did not return anybody who scored more than one goal.
Keeper Eric Reed went 12-4-2 last year, allowing just 11 goals for a 0.60 goals against average. His 59 saves earned him a .843 save percentage.
Scouting the Cardinals

The Cardinals returned their top three scorers from a year ago. Junior Frank Jonke had six goals and six assists in 2005, junior David Guzman recorded four goals and three assists, and sophomore Gerard Voutier notched two goals and two assists.
Junior David Guzman is the bright spot in the Cardinals midfield, earning first-team All-BIG EAST accolades a year ago.
Louisville is using redshirt freshman David Simolike in goal and he has given up six goals in three matches, an average of 1.80 per game. He has saved .727 percent of the shots that have been fired.
Force Of Habit
For the third time in four years, the Terps have pitched shutout wins in the first two games of the season. Maryland also did it in 2004 and recorded three consecutive clean sheets to open the 2003 campaign.
The only other time besides 2003 that a Terp team began the season with three straight shutout wins was in 1990.
This is the eighth time since the program's inception in 1946 that a Maryland team has not allowed a goal in the first two matches, and the fourth time for head coach Sasho Cirovski. The other times when a Terp team opened the regular season with at least two shutout wins was in 1994, 1990, 1961, and 1956.
Tale Of Two Halves
Maryland came out on fire in the second half of the Binghamton game on August 27. The Terps scored three goals in the first 21 minutes of the second frame for the win. Maryland's first goal came in just 30 seconds after the beginning whistle.

The Terps will battle No. 4 Virginia on October 11, No. 5 North Carolina on October 6, No. 5 Clemson on September 8, and No. 16 Wake Forest on September 23. UCLA will be the highest preseason ranked team to visit College Park when it brings its No. 10 ranking to Ludwig Field on September 1.

Where It's At..

Included in that impressive record is the Terps' 10-0-2 mark in the postseason at Ludwig which has helped UM reach four consecutive College Cups. The Terps are the eighth team in NCAA history to participate in four straight College Cups.
For the second-straight season, Maryland averaged over 2,000 fans per match. An average of 2,548 fans rocked Ludwig Field when the Terps took the pitch. 2004 was the first season since 1995 which Maryland averaged over 2,000 fans.

The only poll to not list UM No. 1 is Soccer America, which lists ACC foe North Carolina at the top. Maryland comes in at the No. 4 slot. Also ahead of the Terps is No. 3 Virginia and No. 2 SMU.
FSC To Air Pair Of Terps Matches
Fox Soccer Channel (FSC) and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) have reached an agreement to begin coverage of the Fox Soccer Channel's live and exclusive NSCAA College Match of the Week.
