Peter Hess finished 17th overall to lead the University of Maryland to a seventh place finish at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational in University Park, Pa. on Saturday.
The red-shirt junior was first among the Terps in his second meet back from missing his entire junior campaign, finishing in 26:42:55. Greg Kelsey placed 27th overall coming in at 26:56:00, while teammates Josh Davis and Kevin Gahr came in at 56th and 57th respectively. Davis finished in 27:38:15, while Gahr ran a 27:40:70.
Ben Diestel finished 65th overall with a time of 27:54:45 to finish off the Terrapin's top-five. The Terps' finished with a 1-5 split time of 1:11.90.
Mike Anderson of Dayton finished first overall, while Syracuse took the team title.
The Terrapin men return to action next week at the Tribe Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.
