COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Street & Smith's rated the National Champion Maryland women's basketball team No. 1 in their annual College Basketball Yearbook which goes on sale on Oct. 1. Four Terps also received individual recognition, including junior Crystal Langhorne who was one of the publication's "Terrific 10."
The Terrapins have already received top billing from Lindy's College Basketball preview, while Athlon's rated the team No. 2. Maryland returns its seven top scorers from last year's championship team, including all five starters.
Crystal Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J.) is a "Terrific 10" for the second-straight year. Sophomore Marissa Coleman (Cheltenham, Md.), last year's ACC Rookie of the Year and a second team all-conference selection, was tabbed a High Honorable Mention, with teammates sophomore Kristi Toliver (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg), a Final Four All-Tournament team pick, and junior Laura Harper (Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham), the Final Four Most Outstanding Player, picked Honorable Mention.
Maryland has received a number of preseason distinctions to date. Langhorne, Coleman, Toliver and senior Shay Doron (Ramat Hasharon, Israel/Christ the King [N.Y.]) were named preseason candidates for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Wade Trophy. Langhorne was also selected a preseason All-American by Athlon Sports Annual.
The Street & Smith's College Basketball Yearbook includes its preseason Top 25, a list of the "Terrific 10" in the nation, as well as college men's basketball and high school (boys and girls) previews. The magazine is sold at bookstores and newsstands.
