GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore James Knox has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week, announced today by the conference office. Knox went 2-0 on Saturday in duals against NC State and Duke to help the Terrapins improve to 4-0 in the ACC. Knox's pin against NC State in the final match capped an improbable comeback for Maryland in Raleigh.

The Terps were down 18-9 with three matches to go against the Wolfpack at Reynolds Coliseum. Redshirt freshman Hudson Taylor and senior Jerry Afari started the comeback by earning decisions at 197 and heavyweight, respectively, to cut the deficit to 18-15. Taylor beat No. 13 Ryan Goodman, 5-4, and Afari beat No. 9 Jainor Palma, 11-5, to set up Knox's theatrics as the 125-pund match was the last of the day.

Knox and Taylor Cummings could not settle the match in regulation so the match went into overtime. Cummings quickly tried for a takedown but failed to finish. Knox avoided the charge and then got Cummings on his back for the pin that came 31 seconds into the extra stanza. The six-point fall gave Maryland the 21-18 victory.

Later in the day against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium, Knox finished off the evening with a 6-5 decision against Kellan McKeon as the Terps won, 27-13.

Maryland has garnered more Wrestler of the Week accolades than any other team in the conference with four. Junior Charlie Pinto was the first Terp to win the award on November 20 and senior Jason Kiessling has been honored twice on December 4 and January 15.

The Terps are off this weekend but return to action on Friday, February 9 when they make the short trip to American for a 7:00 p.m. dual.
