
Amir and Huschke Advance at ITA Regionals

NORFOLK, Va. - The Maryland women's tennis team had one doubles team advance to the third round of competition at the ITA Regional Championships in Norfolk Sunday afternoon.
Senior captain Michal Amir and freshman Julia Huschke defeated Lauren Lucido and Tania Varela of Bucknell in a close match, 9-8(4), in the third round. The duo will face Kate Kosiminskaya and Julia Koublitskaya of Pennsylvania tomorrow.
Amir won her first singles match of the day by defeating Julija Korshunova of Fairleigh Dickinson, 6-1, 6-7 (2), 6-1. Amir went on to lose to Klaudyna Kasztelaniec of William & Mary, 7-6(4), 1-6, 6-0.
Oksana Krutiyenko dropped her match to VCU's Tatsiana Uvarova, 6-0, 6-2.
