COLLEGE PARK, Md. - National Signing Day has arrived and Signing Day Central will have the most up-to-date coverage of Maryland men's lacrosse's 2007 recruiting class. 2007 Signee Bios

Midfielder Jake Bernhardt (Longwood, Fla./Lake Brantley HS) is No. 10 high school senior midfielder in the nation according to Inside Lacrosse. A 2007 U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American, Bernhardt was a tryout invitee for the 2008 U.S. Under-19 national team. As a junior in 2007, he helped lead the Patriots to 14-3 record with 39 goals and nine assists. Bernhardt was also named a first team All-Central Florida selection by the Orlando Sentinal.

Defender Grant Oliver (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington HS) is the eighth ranked senior defender in the nation according to Inside Lacrosse. Oliver helped lead the Golden Bears to the 2007 Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association tournament title and a fourth-straight Ohio High School Lacrosse League state championship. Oliver was also honored as a second team All-MSLCA selection. He started with current Terp freshman Max Schmidt on the Upper Arlington defense last season.

Defender Craig Sullivan (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury HS) is a tough, physical defender who could play either long-stick midfielder or close defense. A 2007 U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American, Sullivan led Duxbury to its fourth-straight Division 1 state championship. An aggressive defender who will bring the ball out of the defensive zone, Sullivan totaled seven goals and one assist. In 2007 he was named a Patriot League and Eastern Massachusetts All-Star. He was also named to the Boston Globe's 2007 All-Scholastic All-Star team for the Patriot League. A two-sport star for the Dragons, Sullivan is a fullback and linebacker for the Duxbury football team. So far in 2007, he has averaged 7.19 yards per carry with five touchdowns and made 28 tackles with one interception. Sullivan's brother, Sean, was a member of the Terps men's lacrosse team from 2004-07.

Midfielder Joe Fontanesi (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice HS) is a dynamic midfielder who is among the top 20 high school senior midfielders according to Inside Lacrosse. Fontanesi was a 2007 US Lacrosse High School All-American and helped lead the Warriors to the Catholic High School League championship with three goals and two assists in the title game. Fontanesi was also named a first team All-Midwest selection by the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Attackman Joe Cummings (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield) is No. 7 high school senior attackman in the nation according to Inside Lacrosse. Following his junior season, Cummings was named to the Baltimore Boy's Underclassmen team at the 2007 Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic. At that event, Cummings led all scorers with three goals and was named the game's MVP. He was a second team All-Metro and first team All-Baltimore County selection by the Baltimore Sun after scoring 21 goals and adding a pair of assists to lead the Dons to a perfect 13-2 record, a MIAA A Conference title and a No. 2 ranking in Inside Lacrosse's national high school rankings. Cummings was also a member of the 2007 Free State team.

Attackman Owne Blye (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East HS) is No. 6 high school senior attackman in the nation according to Inside Lacrosse. Blye, who will join his older brother Justin at Maryland, was a tryout invitee for the 2008 U.S. Under-19 national team. He helped Downingtown East win the last two Suburban League titles, including being named the 2006 championship game MVP, and was a 2007 All-EPSLA (Eastern Pennsylvania Schloastic Lacrosse Association) selection.

Midfielder Michael Shakespeare (Walpole, Mass./The Governor's Academy) is top high school senior midfielder in the nation according to Inside Lacrosse. A 2007 U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American, Shakespeare was also a tryout invitee for the 2008 U.S. Under-19 national team. In 2007 the 6-foot-1, 205-pound Shakespeare totaled 43 points, along with 114 groundballs and a 65.6 face-off percentage, to lead the Red Dogs to a 15-2 record and an Independent School League championship. A two-sport athlete, Shakespeare is also an accomplished hockey player as a defender. During the 2006-07 hockey season, Shakespeare totaled seven points on a goal and six assists for the Governor Drummer amateur hockey club.

Midfielder David Miller (Warrenton, Va./Notre Dame Academy) is a 2007 U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American and was a tryout invitee for the 2008 U.S. Under-19 national team. Miller led Notre Dame to the Division II VISAA (Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association) title last spring and was named championship MVP after scoring four goals and adding an assist in the 8-7 win over Highland. Miller has been tremendous for the Dragons during his three seasons and has compiled 169 goals, including a single-season record 86 in 2007. Miller is a two-time first team All-MILL (Maryland Independent Lacrosse League) honoree.
