COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's soccer team, which earned the 13th seed in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship, will host local rival Loyola (19-3-0) on Wednesday, November 28 at 5:00 p.m. at Ludwig Field. The Terrapins (10-5-4) are the only team in the country to be seeded in the tournament every season since 2002.

Parking will be available for free in the lots around Ludwig Field after 4:00 p.m. Prior to that time, cars parked in those lots will be ticketed by campus police. Fans arriving before 4:00 p.m. can pay to park at Mowatt Lane Garage, which costs a maximum of $10 for five or more hours. Gates at Ludwig will open at 3:30 p.m.

Terps Face Local Rival Loyola In NCAA Second Round
• The No. 19 Maryland men's soccer team will take on Loyola Wednesday, November 28 at 5:00 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
• The Terrapins and Greyhounds are no strangers on the pitch as this will be the 40th meeting all-time between the two programs. The Terps own a 25-8-6 record against Loyola.
• Maryland earned the 13th seed in the NCAA Tournament after closing out the regular season with a 10-game unbeaten streak, going 7-0-3 in that stretch.
• Last year's regular season match against Loyola at Ludwig Field was a rough affair, resulting in a 1-0 win for Maryland. The Greyhounds accumulated eight yellow cards, resulting in an ejection, and totaled 28 fouls.
• The Terps (10-5-4) have gone unbeaten in 10 of their last 11 matches, losing to Virginia Tech, 3-0, on November 14 in the ACC Tournament.
• Loyola enters the match with a record of 19-3-0 after beating Liberty, 2-0, in the opening round in Baltimore.
• The Greyhounds feature one of the stingiest defenses in the country, allowing 11 goals in 22 matches with a nation-best 16 shutouts.

NCAA Tournament Notes
• Maryland is making its 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Terps are 33-24-4 all-time in the tournament and have two national championships to their name in 1968 and 2005.
• The Terps are the only team in the country that has been seeded in the NCAA Tournament in each of the past six seasons. Maryland has earned a seed and a first round bye every season since 2002. The number of seeds were doubled from eight to 16 in 2003.
• This is the 13th trip to the NCAA Tournament in 15 seasons for head coach Sasho Cirovski. He is 21-11-2 in the postseason tournament and has led the Terps to five College Cups and a national championship.
• With a relatively young team, Maryland will rely on its upper classmen to provide experience. Juniors and seniors have combined for 21 starts in the NCAA Tournament. Senior Stephen King has started 11 of those matches.
• The Terps have faced nine teams this season that made the NCAA Tournament and their record against them is 3-5-2 (faced Virginia Tech twice).

Scouting The Greyhounds
• Loyola enters the match with a record of 19-3-0 and earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the conference tournament.
• The Greyhounds are one of the hottest teams in the country having won 13 of their last 14 outings. All 13 of those wins came by shutout.
• Loyola sports one of the top defenses in the country as it ranks first in shutout percentage (0.71), third in save percentage (.875), and third in goals against average (0.50).
• The Greyhounds have allowed just two first half goals this season.
• Sophomore keeper Milos Kocic is a major reason for their success as he is fifth in the nation in goals against average (.522) and save percentage (.875).
• Freshman forward Phil Bannister leads the Greyhounds with 13 goals and seven assists. He ranks 22nd in the country in goals.
• Freshman Eddie Dines is second on the team with nine goals while senior Julian Cantillo leads the squad with nine assists.

Last Year In NCAAs
• After receiving the fifth seed and a first round bye, the Terps faced a hot St. John's team in the second round. Maryland shut out the Red Storm, 2-0, on the strength of goals from Jeremy Hall and Graham Zusi. Chris Seitz had to make a pair of saves to earn the shutout.
• The Terps suffered heartbreak in the Sweet 16 against another BIG EAST foe, this time against Notre Dame.
• The teams were scoreless in the second overtime when Joseph Lapira, the 2006 Hermann Trophy winner, snuck a shot into the left side netting at a tough angle to give the Fighting Irish the win.
• The goal was scored with just 3:04 left in the game.
• It was Maryland's first NCAA Tournament loss at Ludwig Field since 2001 when Loyola beat the Terps in double overtime.

Gonzalez Named ACC Defensive Player of the Year; Four Voted To All-ACC Teams
• Sophomore Omar Gonzalez was named the 2007 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and three other Terrapins were named to All-ACC teams, announced November 12 by the conference office. Senior Stephen King was named to the first team while Gonzalez and sophomore Jeremy Hall were voted to the second team. Rodney Wallace was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team.
• Gonzalez, a 6-5 center back from Dallas, Texas, has started 40 games in his career including all 18 this season, one of four Terps to do so. He has anchored a back line that has allowed just 17 goals, the third-fewest in the conference. Gonzalez is a vital part of Maryland's set pieces and overall attack as he notched an assist in the Terps' win against NC State.
• King became the 22nd first team All-ACC selection under head coach Sasho Cirovski, as he earned his second All-ACC honor in as many seasons. He is second all-time in career assists at Maryland with 32 and his 92 points ranks sixth. With one more goal, King will move into 10th place all-time with 31.
• King's three-assist performance against No. 14 Virginia tied the program record for assists in a game. He has accumulated 12 assists in 2007 which is just three away from the single-season record set by Gino Ferrin and Keith Beach in 1985 and 1998, respectively.
• Hall, the 2006 ACC Freshman of the Year, has scored five goals and added four assists this season despite missing three games with an injury. He set a career high with two goals and four points in a win over George Mason on September 9. He has been a fixture on the Maryland attack since his arrival, playing in 37 games with 33 starts.
• The Tampa, Fla. native, along with Gonzalez, was one of the top freshmen in the nation in 2006 as he was named to the Soccer America and College Soccer News All-Freshmen first teams. He was the first ACC Freshman of the Year in program history.
• Wallace has also started each of Maryland's 18 games playing both midfield and defense. He is second on the team with six goals, three of them game-winners. Five of those goals came in a four-game stretch from October 16-27. He scored two goals against Villanova and NC State, the first true freshman to record two goals twice since King did it in 2004.

King Named Academic All-American
• Senior Stephen King was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team, announced November 19 by CoSIDA. The second-year captain is one of the top midfielders in the country and has excelled in the classroom, earning a 3.63 grade point average while majoring in finance.
• This is King's second Academic All-America selection as he was a third team honoree in 2006. He is the only player from the ACC on the 12-man first team.
• King, who will graduate after the fall semester, has achieved a perfect GPA of 4.0 in two of the last three semesters. In addition to being a third team Academic All-American last year, he was also named to the NSCAA/adidas College Men Scholar All-America Third Team and the All-ACC Academic Team.

King's Record-Breaking Season
• Senior Stephen King has staked a claim as one of the greatest players to ever come through Maryland.
• He is second all-time in career assists with 32 and his 92 points ranks sixth. With one more goal, King will have 31 which will rank 10th.
• King's three assist performance on Senior Night lagainst No. 14 Virginia was special as it tied the program record for assists in a single game.
• It also moved his season total up to 12 which is just three away from the single-season record set by Gino Ferrin and Keith Beach in 1985 and 1998, respectively.
• King has been the work horse for the Terrapins since his arrival in College Park in 2004, earning a start in every contest Maryland has played.
• He has started in 91 games in his career which is also a Maryland record.

King Third In The Nation In Assists
• Senior Stephen King is in his final season in red and black and has left an indelible impression in College Park. The second-year captain has started all 91 games Maryland has played since 2004, his freshman campaign.
• He currently leads the ACC with 12 assists this season and ranks third nationally in that category.
• King's 32 career assists ranks second all-time at Maryland while his 30 goals is one outside the top 10. His 92 points puts him at sixth on the career list.
• His sophomore season, King scored 15 times and assisted others eight times. His goal number is tied for 10th all-time in a single season while his 38 points is tied for eighth.
• King was named to the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic All-Tournament Team on September 2 after scoring a goal and an assist in Maryland's 3-0 win against No. 10 Notre Dame.
• He was also named the Soccer America Player of the Week and was placed on the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
• King added an assist in the 3-0 win against George Mason on September 9 and the 2-1 loss at Duke on September 22.
• He chipped in with a pair of assists in Maryland's 3-2 overtime win against Clemson. It was the first time he had recorded two helpers in a game since the UCLA game on September 2 of last season.
• King notched two assists for the fifth time in his career against Georgetown on October 23 as he set up both goals in a 2-1 win and then added another one in a 5-0 trouncing of NC State.
• In a 4-1 win against No. 14 Virginia on Senior Night November 3, King tied the school record and set a career high with three assists while scoring Maryland's final goal.
• He was named Soccer America, College Soccer News, and ACC Player of the Week for his performance.

King Named Finalist For Lowe's Senior CLASS Award
• Senior midfielder Stephen King was named one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, presented annually in eight NCAA sports to a senior student-athlete who excels both on and off the field. This is the first time that this award will be given in soccer.
• King is one of three student-athletes from the ACC who are up for the honor, the most of any conference in the nation. The other finalists from the ACC are Duke's Tim Jepson and Wake Forest's Julian Valentine.
• The finalists will be placed on a ballot for a nationwide vote spanning from October 17 to November 21. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches, media and sponsors to determine the recipient of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Winners will be announced during the NCAA Soccer Championship scheduled for December 14-16.
• In the classroom, King has a cumulative grade point average of 3.63 in finance and is set to graduate after the fall semester. Twice he has received a gpa of 4.0 in a semester and last season, he was named an Academic All-American by two different media outlets.

From A to Z-usi
• Junior Graham Zusi, Maryland's leading scorer from 2006, started 2007 on the right foot. At the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic, he was named the Offensive MVP at the tournament while being placed on the All-Tournament Team.
• Zusi scored two goals that came on eight total shots in the two games. His goal against No. 7 Indiana on August 31 equalized the score at 1-1, which was the final, and came just 71 seconds after the Hoosiers had taken the lead. His goal against No. 10 Notre Dame proved to be the game-winner in a 3-0 win against the Irish.
• Zusi notched a career high two assists in the 4-0 win against Villanova on October 16. He had recorded his 12 previous career assists in different games.
• Zusi added his third goal of the season, and first since September 2, in the 5-0 win against NC State on October 27.
• The Longwood, Fla. native scored in his second-straight game as he found the back of the net against No. 14 Virginia on November 3. Zusi also scored goals in the first two games of the season.
• Zusi sparked Maryland's thrilling comeback victory at North Carolina on November 9, scoring the equalizer in the 70th minute on a beautiful free kick and then using a give-and-go with freshman Rodney Wallace to set up his game-winner with just six seconds left.
• Since his freshman season in 2005, the Terps are 26-1-2 when Zusi tallies a goal or an assist.
• The Terps went 13-1-1 in 2006 when Zusi tallied at least one point and are 8-0-1 this year.

Flood Yates Are Open
• Sophomore Drew Yates seems to be an important ingredient when it comes to the Terps getting a result.
• When the Severna Park native tallies a point in a match, Maryland has a record of 11-1-0 with its first loss coming against Duke on September 22.
• Yates assisted on goals in four different games in 2006 which were all Terp wins, two of them by one goal.
• This season, Maryland is 7-1-0 when Yates records a point.

Lightning Rod-ney
• Freshman Rodney Wallace has made an immediate impact for the Terps as he is second on the team with six goals.
• Wallace scored his first career goal against Clemson on October 5, the game-winner in overtime.
• He has recorded two-goal games in wins against Villanova (10/16) and NC State (10/27) and provided the Terps' lone goal in a 1-1 tie against Cal State Northridge (10/21).
• Wallace is the first freshman to have a pair of two-goal games in a season since senior Stephen King did it in 2004.
• He also set up junior Graham Zusi with the game-winning goal in Maryland's 2-1 comeback win at North Carolina. It was the first assist of his career.

Cirovski Five Wins Away From Maryland History
• Head coach Sasho Cirovski has built Maryland into the premier soccer program in the country. He has guided the Terps to the 2005 National Championship, 12 NCAA postseason appearances, five appearances at the College Cup, and two ACC Tournament titles.
• Cirovski owns a record of 213-98-19 in 15 years at the helm of the program. His win total ranks second at Maryland all-time, just five behind Doyle Royal who went 217-58-58 with the Terps in 28 seasons.
• Along with all of the team accomplishments, Cirovski has mentored some of the top student-athletes in the game. He guided Jason Garey to the Hermann Trophy in 2005, the program's first-ever recipient.
• He has also produced two No. 1 overall MLS SuperDraft picks, four ACC Players of the Year, a national and ACC Freshman of the Year, 22 first team All-ACC selections, 19 All-Americans, and 28 MLS players.

First To Score Wins
• Last year, Maryland went 16-0-0 when it scored the first goal in a match. The Terps outscored their opponents 21-7 in the first half in 2006.
• This year, Maryland is 9-0-1 when it scores first.
• The Terrapins have not lost a match when they strike first since October 2, 2004 - a total of 50-straight matches.

Not Backed Into One
• The Terps have averaged more corner kicks a game than any other team in the conference at 7.53. North Carolina is second in that category with 7.20.
• Maryland was able to earn 16 corner kicks against Lehigh on October 9 which was the most by a Terp team since September 14, 2003 against NC State.
• The Terps got off 23 in that match and did not score on any of them in a 1-0 win. Maryland didn't score on a set piece against Lehigh either in a 2-1 victory.
• Maryland racked up 10 or more corners in four straight matches as it had 10 against Virginia Tech on October 13, 14 against Villanova on October 16, and 13 more against Cal State Northridge on October 21.

Sunday Funday
• Maryland loves to score on Sundays. In its three games on that day, the Terps are 2-0-1 while outscoring their opponents 7-1.
• Maryland has two 3-0 wins which came against No. 10 Notre Dame and George Mason.
• The Terps tied Cal State Northridge, 1-1, on October 21.
• In their 16 other matches, the Terps are 8-5-3.

The Ludwig Effect
• Ludwig Field has developed into one of the most exciting places to watch a collegiate soccer match in the country as the men's soccer team has increasingly attracted more and more fans to the pitch season after season.
• Maryland is 66-6-5 at Ludwig Field since 2002. Included in that number are two undefeated seasons in 2002 (13-0-0) and 2005 (11-0-2). The Terps have never lost more than two games at Ludwig in that span.
• Last year, Ludwig Field saw over 40,000 fans come out to watch the Terps which set a school record. The total was second best in the country.
• The Maryland soccer community came out in full force on Friday, September 29, 2006 as a record crowd of 6,489 fans watched their Terps take down No. 14 Duke, 1-0. The fans sparked an electric atmosphere for the match shown on Fox Soccer Channel. Maryland entered the field under a cloud of smoke and fireworks lit the sky during the national anthem and prior to player introductions.
• In Maryland's 2007 home opener against No. 20 West Virginia, 5,022 spectators came out to root on the Terps. That number ranks fifth all-time at Ludwig.
• A total of 3,726 fans saw Maryland pick up its first ACC win of the season on October 5 as the Terps beat Clemson, 3-2, in an overtime thriller. It was the 11th largest crowd in Ludwig history.
• 4,009 spectators saw Maryland and No. 8 Virginia Tech tie 1-1 on October 13 which was the 10th largest crowd ever at Ludwig.
• Maryland is averaging 2,150 fans per game this season.

Former Terp Edu Named MLS Rookie of the Year
• Former Maryland All-American Maurice Edu was named the 2007 Gatorade Rookie of the Year, announced on November 7 by MLS. Edu started 25 matches for Toronto FC which drafted him first overall in the MLS SuperDraft in January. Edu is the first No. 1 overall pick in league history to earn Rookie of the Year honors.
• Edu, from Fontana, Calif., scored four goals and added an assist as the starting defensive midfielder for the expansion franchise. His aggressive style led to many chances as he was second on the team with 24 shots. His goal number was also second on the squad.
• The 21-year old logged 2,180 minutes on the pitch which was third on the team behind co-captains Jim Brennan and Carl Robinson. Edu missed the entire preseason and the first two games of the season recovering from a pelvis injury.
• His stellar play in the MLS caught the eye of Bob Bradley, head coach of the United States National Team, who chose Edu to play in a friendly against Switzerland on October 17. Edu started and played all 90 minutes for the National Team in a 1-0 win.
• At Maryland, Edu was a first-team NSCAA All-American and Hermann Trophy semifinalist in 2006. He was a 55-game starter in three seasons and led the Terps to a national championship in 2005, an NCAA semifinal appearance in 2004 and an appearance in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen last season. Maryland was 52-15-5 during his three seasons in a Terrapin kit as he recorded 10 goals and 11 assists during his career.

International Experience
• Sophomores Omar Gonzalez and Jeremy Hall were both exposed to the international game over the summer as both competed for the United States at the Pan American Games held in Rio de Janeiro.
• The Americans did not make it out of group play, but both Terps saw plenty of action on the pitch in Brazil. Gonzalez started at forward all three matches and scored twice against Bolivia.
• Hall was the first player off the bench for the Americans in the first match and started the second.
• Gonzalez has started all 35 games on defense since arriving in College Park in 2006.
• Hall is second on the squad with five goals and 14 points.

Zusi Scores With Six Seconds Left In Double Overtime To Complete Comeback At Carolina
• With the game heading for a 1-1 tie, junior Graham Zusi scored with six seconds left in the second overtime to push the No. 19 Maryland men's soccer team to a 2-1 win against North Carolina on November 9 at Fetzer Field. Zusi used a give-and-go with freshman Rodney Wallace on the right side to set himself up for the goal.
• Zusi's first goal came in the 70th minute after he was taken down by Andre Sherard 20 yards out on the left side. King, who hit the beautiful free kick for a goal in the last match against NC State, and Zusi both stepped to the ball. It was Zusi who took the shot, and his attempt got over the wall and past the keeper for the equalizing goal.

Seniors Provide "Perfect Night" With 4-1 Win Against No. 14 Virginia
• With the help of its three seniors playing in their final regular season home match at Ludwig Field, the No. 25 Maryland men's soccer team beat No. 14 Virginia, 4-1, on November 3 in front of 3,267 fans. Stephen King led the way as he had a hand in all four goals, scoring one and dishing out a career-high three assists, which also tied the school record.
• King, who has never missed a start in his career, was in the starting lineup for the 89th time which ties the program record held by Keith Beach. With his three helpers, King moved to second all-time at Maryland with 32 career assists.
• King became the seventh player in Maryland history to record three assists in a single game. The last to do it was Chris Lancos on November 13, 2004.
• Senior Spencer Allen scored his first goal of the year and also added an assist while classmate Aki Kadotani also scored a goal. Junior Graham Zusi added the fourth Maryland goal while junior Michael Marchiano and sophomore Doug Rodkey notched assists.

History Made In Win Against NC State
• On Saturday, October 27, Maryland made history with its 5-0 win against the Wolfpack.
• The shutout was the largest margin of victory ever at Ludwig Field against an ACC opponent and was the biggest win in a regular season game inside the conference for head coach Sasho Cirovski.
• His most impressive victory came against the Wolfpack in the 1996 ACC Tournament, a 7-0 drubbing. Maryland went on to win the conference tournament that season.
• Cirovski and the Terps also beat NC State 5-0 on September 17, 2000 in Raleigh.
• In the win last Saturday, freshman Rodney Wallace scored two goals for the second time this year while junior Michael Marchiano added a career-high two assists.
• The match was originally scheduled for Friday night, but due to the week's rain and poor field conditions, it was played at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
• Junior Graham Zusi and sophomore Drew Yates scored unassisted goals for the Terrapins after the 70th minute. It was Yates' team-leading eighth goal of the year. Sophomore Doug Rodkey scored his first collegiate goal in the 79th minute and senior Stephen King and sophomore Omar Gonzalez added assists.

New Scorers Lead Terps Past Georgetown
• Senior Aki Kadotani scored his first goal in over two years and freshman Sean Flatley scored his first collegiate goal as the Maryland men's soccer team defeated Georgetown, 2-1, on October 23 at Ludwig Field. Senior Stephen King set up both scores and tied his career high with the two assists.
• It was the 27th time that the Terrapins and Hoyas had met on the pitch and it was the 27th time that that the result went to Maryland. The Terps now own a perfect 27-0-0 record all-time against their local foe. The win also improves Maryland's unbeaten streak to seven games as it is 4-0-3 in its current nine-game homestand.

Terps and Matadors Tie 1-1
• The Maryland men's soccer team went into overtime for the eighth time this season as it played to a 1-1 draw against Cal State Northridge on October 21 at Ludwig Field. Both goals were scored before three minutes had expired from the clock as freshman Rodney Wallace scored the equalizer for the Terrapins just 2:16 into the match.
• Cal State Northridge's Michael Clegg scored 1:02 into the match after Adrian Lopez stole a bad clear attempt from the Maryland keeper. The Terps responded with Wallace's score with the assists going to junior Rich Costanzo and sophomore Jeremy Hall.
• A minute after the opening whistle, the Maryland keeper tried to clear the ball from the box with the Matadors applying some pressure. The ball stayed on the ground and went right to Lopez in the middle of the field. Clegg was streaking on the left side and Lopez fed him nicely to set up the goal.
• Maryland's equalizer came very quickly as Hall handled the ball on the right side. He dished ahead to Costanzo who sent a cross into the box. The pass found Wallace at the far post, who headed in a shot to cap the scoring.

Terps Ease Past Villanova, 4-0
• Freshman Rodney Wallace scored twice as the Maryland men's soccer team beat Villanova, 4-0, on October 16 at Ludwig Field. Junior Graham Zusi assisted on both of his goals while sophomore Jeremy Hall recorded a goal and an assist in the victory.
• Maryland extended its unbeaten streak to five games and is 3-0-2 during its current homestand. Sophomore Drew Yates added a goal in the win while junior Michael Marchiano notched his first career point, an assist off of a corner kick that Yates cleaned up.

Hall's Penalty Kick Puts Away Lehigh
• With the scored tied 1-1 in the 84th minute, sophomore Jeremy Hall connected on a penalty kick to give the Maryland men's soccer team a 2-1 win against Lehigh on October 9 at Ludwig Field. Classmate Drew Yates scored his team leading sixth goal of the season in the 31st minute in the first ever meeting between the two programs.
• Junior Rich Costanzo added an assist on Yates' goal.

Wallace's Header In Overtime Beats Clemson
• Freshman Rodney Wallace scored his first collegiate goal in the fourth minute of overtime off of a Graham Zusi corner kick to give the Maryland men's soccer team a 3-2 win against Clemson in front of a crowd of 3,726 at Ludwig Field.
• Senior Stephen King added a pair of assists for the Terrapins on their first score and the equalizer in the second half.
• Freshman Billy Cortes added the first goal of the night while sophomore Drew Yates scored the equalizer in the 68th minute after the Terps fell behind. Junior Rich Costanzo also added an assist in the win.

Terps, Stony Brook Play To 1-1 Tie
• Freshman Billy Cortes scored his first collegiate goal in the 57th minute as the Maryland men's soccer team and Stony Brook played to a 1-1 draw on October 2 at Ludwig Field.
• Maryland controlled the match for the entire 110 minutes, allowing just a single shot in each of the four periods. The Terps rattled off 17 shots in regulation and three more in the extra sessions. The Terps also earned eight corners during the course of the night and did not allow one to Stony Brook.
• Senior Spencer Allen and junior Graham Zusi were credited with the assist on Maryland's score.

Terps Beat Old Dominion, 1-0
• Sophomore Drew Yates scored his third goal of the season and the only one of the match as the No. 16 Maryland men's soccer team defeated Old Dominion, 1-0, on September 19 at Ludwig Field.
• Junior Graham Zusi was credited with the assist as he sent in the cross in the 32nd minute.
• Maryland dominated the Monarchs in the midfield in the first half with senior captains Stephen King and Spencer Allen commanding the pitch. The Terrapins' offense fired off five shots while the back line did not allow one.
• Old Dominion got off five shots in the second half and had its chances but came up empty.

Hall, Yates Lead Terps To 3-0 Win Against Mason
• Sophomores Jeremy Hall and Drew Yates led the Maryland men's soccer team in a strong second half as the Terrapins scored all of their goals after halftime in a 3-0 win against George Mason on September 9 at Ludwig Field. All of the Terps' goals came in the last 20 minutes of the match.
• Hall established career highs with his two goals and four points while Yates' three points is also a personal best.
• Hall's two scores were the first of this season for him while Yates added his second goal of 2007. Seniors Stephen King and Aki Kadotani and junior Graham Zusi were each credited with an assist in the match. Kadotani's helper was the first of his career.
• Freshman keeper Thorne Holder had to make just one save in his first collegiate start to earn the shutout.

Maryland Opens Up With Impressive Weekend
• The Terps opened the 2007 season on a high note as they won the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic last weekend after tying then-No. 7 Indiana, 1-1, and beating then-No. 10 Notre Dame, 3-0.
• The Terps and Hoosiers played to a thrilling draw on August 31. Kevin Noschang scored for the Hoosiers in the 25th minute but junior Graham Zusi responded just 71 seconds later with a goal of his own. Classmate Rich Costanzo provided the assist on a cross.
• Both teams had opportunities to score the game-winning goal but came up just short. Noschang almost ended the game in the first overtime when he fired a shot that freshman keeper Will Swaim dove to his left for. His fingertip save kept the game going into the second overtime session.
• Maryland was inches away from taking the win in the second OT as senior Stephen King hit the right post on a shot.
• In the 3-0 victory against the Irish on September 2, Maryland dominated the entire way by outshooting Notre Dame 17-3. The Terps did not allow a single shot in the first half and kept 2006 Hermann Trophy winner Joseph Lapira in check.
• King tallied a goal and an assist in the win while Zusi and sophomore Drew Yates scored the other two goals.

Zusi Named Offensive MVP; Four On All-Tourney Team
• Junior Graham Zusi was tabbed the Offensive MVP of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic last weekend after scoring a goal in each of Maryland's matches.
• His goal against No. 7 Indiana was the equalizer and got the Terps a tie against the Hoosiers in the season opener.
• Zusi's score against Notre Dame proved to be the game-winner in a 3-0 win.
• He totaled eight shots on the weekend and five of them were on goal.
• Three other Terps joined Zusi on the All-Tournament team including senior Stephen King, junior Michael Marchiano, and sophomore Omar Gonzalez.
• King recorded a goal and an assist in Maryland's win against Notre Dame.

Draft History Made In 2007
• Junior midfielder Maurice Edu became the second men's soccer student-athlete in Maryland history to be drafted with the first overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft as he was selected by the expansion franchise Toronto FC with the draft's first selection on January 12, 2007 at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Sophomore keeper Chris Seitz was taken fourth overall by Real Salt Lake.
• It marked just the fourth time in MLS SuperDraft history that two student-athletes from the same school were selected in the top five.
• It was the second time under head coach Sasho Cirovski that a Terp has been selected with the first overall pick. Leo Cullen was taken by Miami in 1998 with the first pick in the draft.
• Edu and Seitz were also the seventh and eighth student-athletes under Cirovski's guidance to be taken in the first round. Since the draft's inception in 1996, Cirovski has produced 21 MLS SuperDraft picks.
• Edu was the fifth student-athlete from Maryland to be selected first overall in his respective sport's draft. Men's basketball has had two top picks in John Lucas (1976) and Joe Smith (1995) and men's lacrosse had Joe Walters go first in 2006.
