COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland held its final practice of the week Thursday in preparation of Saturday's home finale against No. 8 Boston College (8-1, 4-1 ACC).

After a tough loss last weekend to North Carolina, the Terps (4-5, 1-4) will look to get back on the winning track, a task made tougher by the numerous injuries the Terps have suffered on both sides of the ball.

"I've never had a season like this ever," said Coach Ralph Friedgen after practice. "The good thing about it is our players. They haven't responded negatively to negative things. I told them tonight that the only thing we have to worry about is what we can control. We're not going to undo what's been done."

"We have to focus on the things we can do," he continued. "We can give effort, and we can execute, and we can not make mental mistakes. If we do that, who knows what can happen. But if we go out and we listen to what everybody's saying, or worry about all the things we can't control, then it's going to take away from what we can do."

Despite the injuries, Saturday's game will be a special one for 15 seniors who will be playing in their final game in a sold-out Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium.

Christian Varner, Isaiah Gardner, Jason Goode, Keon Lattimore, Colin Nelson, J.J. Justice, Lance Ball, Chris Roberts, Jermaine Lemons, Brendan McDermond, Andrew Crummey, Carlos Feliciano, Joey Haynos, Matt Goldberg and Dre Moore will play their final game in College Park, and will be honored before kickoff.

Friedgen also announced that sophomore Chris Turner will make his fifth consecutive start at quarterback, but that junior Jordan Steffy could see playing time as the game unfolds.

At the conclusion of practice, Friedgen announced the captains for Saturday's game, as chosen by the players. All three are seniors who have made big contributions during their Terrapin careers. Carlos Feliciano will represent the defense, Andrew Crummey, the offense, and Jermaine Lemons, the special teams unit.

Paul Lariviere, a freshman running back from Brooklyn, N.Y. and defensive back Dominique Herald, a freshman out of Newark, N.J., were chosen as the offensive and defensive scout team players of the week. It marked the second time in three weeks that Lariviere has received the honor.

Kickoff for Saturday's game against Boston College is set for 8 p.m. It will mark the third sellout of the season for the Terps. The West Virginia (Sept. 13) and Virginia (Oct. 20) games were both sellouts.

The Terps fell 38-16 to the Eagles last season in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Saturday's game will be televised regionally by ABC and will also be carried by the Terrapin Sports Radio Network, which includes WHFS 105.7 FM in Baltimore, WJFK 1300 AM in Baltimore and WJFK 106.7 FM in Washington, D.C.

The game will be replayed at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, following the replay of the Outback Ralph Friedgen Television Show.

The Friedgen Television Show airs initially at 11:30 a.m. each Saturday.
